Some drawbacks are we cannot simply persuade people to protect the forests, we can only simply raise awareness, another obstacle we may face is time management and not being able to keep up with the proposed timeline. Another drawback is we need owner consent before attaching fliers on property.
But, potential benefits for myself and my team-members is the ability to associate with groups and have a stand for our environment. This also encourages us to step out of our comfort zone. One challenge is making the posters and what to put on it because of invalid details like palm oil. However, the benefits are creating change for many and keeping people globally aware.

Our solution will involve spreading awareness via posters and potentially volunteering for organizations like the Leeward Watershed in Haleakala. Before that though, we asked an expert on takeaways on what to put in our social media posts and do research before creating the posters. However we decided a different approach like Reforestation of tropical forests. This may or may not happen because of coronavirus country rules but it is not outruled. We however are in favor of leeward haleakala via numerous instagram posts and Leonardo Di'caprio once said that spreading awareness is the most important action you can take to support forest protection.
On average, Trees only sequester 50 pounds of CO2, but that depends on how big the tree is, the living conditions and many other factors arise from this. If we plant 1000 trees, it will sequester 50000 pounds of CO2 within the span of a year on average. Assuming we spread awareness, this will cause people to be locally aware and how to actively fight against deforestation. If this whole drawdown category was implemented, it can sequester 5.52 to 8.75 Gigatons worth of CO2 (Forest Protection, 2020).
This will cost money, assuming reserves don't do service work during COVID, this may cost several hundred bucks. However, this new solution such as hanging up posters and social media posts will not cost any money, but the real drawdown says this will amount in the billion figures in developed countries.
My team members will begin discussing on Monday, 4/19 and begin to devise our long shot plan to protect local forests and begin to draft an email to an expert to an organization. 4/21 is the 3 instagram post milestone, a day after that we reached 11 posts, and 4/23 will finish all 13 instagram posts. By 4/26, we will work against the clock to distribute posters in local areas to spread awareness about forest protection. By May 1st, this project should be accounted for and finished on May 2nd.
The solution will be rolled in Maui. To be more specific in Kihei but encouraging a company known as leeward haleakala through instagram and flyers in local areas such as Kihei and Wailea. These posters will be distributed in heavily toured areas to spread awareness about forest protection. Therefore, this solution is primarily based on encouraging people via the world wide web and physical posters.
Our goal in this project is to spread awareness via Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. We aim to have atleast 13 posts on social media and to locally hang up posters in Kihei and Wailea.
Therefore, Our goal is to not only persuade others about reforestation efforts but to actively help as a team to help out reforestation efforts. The whole school will be informed about our solution by flyers around campus. |
